Delegates from an international
sustainability convention will be heading to
Peterborough in October for a trip that will include
a visit to Business Focus 2011, Peterborough’s
flagship business to business exhibition.
The 2nd Global Summit on
Sustainability, organised by the World Council for
Corporate Governance, UK and the Institute of
Directors (India), will offer delegates the
opportunity to participate in a tour of the city
before meeting representatives from the local
business community at the business-to-business
exhibition.
The annual event, which last year
attracted over 650 visitors, has this year been
expanded to incorporate an Environment Showcase to
promote the city’s ambitions to become the UK’s
Environment Capital.
Cllr Marco Cereste, Leader of
Peterborough City Council, said: “As a city
committed to substantial and sustainable growth and
proud of its many environmental successes, the Study
Tour provides an exciting opportunity to put
Peterborough on the global map. It’s a city in which
businesses thrive and expand and where innovative
approaches are being developed and applied to tackle
local and global and environmental challenges.
“Peterborough is bucking the national trend and is
emerging from the recent recession stronger and
fitter and is a city truly open for business.”
John Bridge OBE, Chief Executive
of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce which
organises the exhibition in partnership with the
Business Club, added: “The inclusion of a trip to
Peterborough within the conference agenda reflects
the city’s growing reputation for environmental
excellence and innovation, and it will be a great
pleasure to welcome its distinguished delegates to
experience what local companies have to offer.”
Business Focus takes place on
Wednesday 12 October, 9am-5pm, at the Exec, East of
England Showground.
